Author: Luca Kieser, Event: Conversation

On May 15, 2025, our department will host author Luca Kieser for a discussion on his novel Pink Elephant. This work, noted for its stark realism, explores deep themes such as belonging, identity, and the process of growing up. The event presents a valuable opportunity to gain a closer insight into the author's literary approach and to comprehensively evaluate the themes addressed in the novel. For your information.

We organized a new workshop to thoroughly examine Friedrich Dürrenmatt, one of the prominent figures of 20th-century Western literature, and his works, with the valuable participation of Ms. Eva Schaffner.

The “Fairy Tale and Storyteller Festival” was organized in Malatya on 27-30 January 2024 in cooperation with the Atatürk Cultural Center Presidency and Hacettepe University Rectorate.

The event where Prof. Dr. Carsten Gansel gave a presentation was organized in cooperation with the H.U. Department of German Language and Literature, HÜTAI, the Goethe Institute, and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ankara.

Emre Gürkan Yalgı, one of our department students, won second place in the 1st Young Translator Candidates Competition organized by the Atatürk Culture, Language, and History High Institution Atatürk Cultural Center on October 12, 2024. His award was presented to him at the Atatürk Culture, Language, and History High Institution on November 14. We congratulate our student!

Our department supports the academic and personal development of our students through opportunities such as double major, minor, and Erasmus.

At our last workshop in our department, we were very happy to welcome award-winning writers Ariane Koch and Dinçer Güçyeter as guests. Ariane Koch's work "The Imposition" and Dinçer Güçyeter's work "Our Germany Fairy Tale" were the focus of our workshop. The intimate conversations we had with our guest authors allowed us to take a deeper journey into the world of these impressive works.

May 12, 2023 We had the pleasure of hosting Austrian author Alois Hotschnig in our department. The guest author discussed his latest book "Der Silberfuchs meiner Mutter", which deals with a family drama resulting from World War II, and answered our questions.
