1st Young Translator Candidates Competition

Literature workshop with Ariane Koch and Dinçer Güçyeter
At our last workshop in our department, we were very happy to welcome award-winning writers Ariane Koch and Dinçer Güçyeter as guests. Ariane Koch's work "The Imposition" and Dinçer Güçyeter's work "Our Germany Fairy Tale" were the focus of our workshop. The intimate conversations we had with our guest authors allowed us to take a deeper journey into the world of these impressive works.

May 12, 2023 We had the pleasure of hosting Austrian author Alois Hotschnig in our department. The guest author discussed his latest book "Der Silberfuchs meiner Mutter", which deals with a family drama resulting from World War II, and answered our questions.

The Department of German Language and Literature is dedicated to providing education, conducting research and project work in the light of universal values; training critical, inquisitive, and open-minded individuals who are capable of contributing to various areas of social life and producing creative and innovative solutions; and contributing to science, art, as well as social and cultural life.

The goal is to hold a distinguished position among Departments of German Language and Literature in national and international contexts; to be a department that students, staff, and graduates take pride in; and to train individuals who are equipped with the knowledge of the information age and who have social awareness and sensitivity.
